Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a well established client in the Downtown Portland area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, and payroll processing
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including GAAP and local property management laws
- Manage the preparation of tax filings and audits, working closely with external auditors and tax advisors
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships to optimize financial resources
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Experience in property management accounting is highly desirable
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel; familiarity with property management software is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and clients
