Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is a member of the management team and will be responsible for establishing, coordinating, and maintaining sound accounting practices and procedures, presenting factual and timely reports and interpretations to management. The Accounting Manager participates as a key member of the Treasure’s team supervising accounting team staff which sets long-term strategy, organizational objectives, and short-term tactics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Establishing, directing, and maintaining sound financial accounting practices and procedures, internal controls, and management reporting systems for internal and external reporting.
Develop procedures, systems, and controls that monitor and assure accuracy of inventories and assets of the company
Responsible for cash management, budgets, and forecasts
Manage general and cost accounting functions, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and job cost estimating
Responsible for monthly and annual financial statements
Evaluates capital expenditure requests including lease vs. buy alternatives
As business partner to the Treasurer provides sound advice on business decisions based on thorough understanding of the business
Provide leadership and demonstrate commitment to the ERP System, Cost Accounting System, and quality standards
GL & Reporting
Daily report generation for production, hours, and sales
Journal entry preparation, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
Month-end close reporting
Month and YTD OT report
Scrap reporting Monthly and YTD
Adhoc reporting when requested
Department cost analysis and report generation
PO reports, Gross Margin Reports, SCAR Reports, Shipping and Tooling usage reports
Finance
Bank and Cash Reconciliation
Monthly bank deposit and journal entries
Bank cash analysis and transfers as needed
Wire transfers as needed for vendor and royalty payments
Wire forecast reports as requested
Costing
Cost roll-up for new parts and part revisions
Utilities reporting and adjustments for natural gas
Review and calculate the standard cost entry and update as needed
Cost-down calculation and journal entry
New actual costing system
Payroll
Review and Enter Payroll to GL
Create hourly payroll analysis and accrual entry
Fixed Asset
Fixed Asset Management and Reconciliation
Monitor expense accounts and reclassify transactions to prepaid or CIP as needed
Inventory
Physical inventory preparation, accounting, and generating variance reports
LOCM/Variance capitalization/PPV analysis and adjustments
In-transit inventory analysis and calculation
Completions reports
Inventory Reports
Audit
3rd
party CDH audit preparation and facilitation of the audit
Audit Adjustments and Year-end close
Sales Tax preparation filed for CDH – Post Audit
Taxes & Government
OHIO Quarterly CAT Tax preparation and payment
Illinois Annual Report preparation and payment
Illinois Annual Sales Report
Census reports as received
Others
Support AR/AP as needed
Support Treasurer as needed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
Minimum 10 years accounting experience
in various accounting roles in manufacturing with strong cost accounting background (multi-step product manufacturing environment preferred)
and familiarity with a job costing environment
in developing 5-years forecasts as well as future fiscal budgets
in working with internal teams to develop department budget’s ability to be hands-on in the day-to -day finance process while managing a finance department and lead change of accounting processes
Effective management of the month-end close process resulting in accurate and timely reporting of results
Ability to prepare detailed monthly Management financial Reporting package with commentary and analysis
Plan and lead physical inventories with experience in implementing cycle counting programs a plus
Previously served as a member of a management team
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
Must maintain confidential information
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments
High proficiency in Excel
