Job Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial reporting, internal controls, and company policies. This position will manage a team of accounting professionals, provide leadership and mentorship, and assist in implementing financial strategies to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision of Accounting Staff: Lead, mentor, and oversee the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. Assign tasks and review work for accuracy and compliance with procedures and regulations.
Month-End Close: Oversee and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Internal Controls: Ensure the implementation and maintenance of effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity. Recommend improvements to existing processes and controls.
Compliance & Audits: Coordinate and manage external audits and reviews. Ensure the company complies with local, state, and federal financial regulations. Assist in preparing documentation for audits and resolving any identified discrepancies.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing and maintaining annual budgets and financial forecasts. Provide analysis of financial performance and variances to ensure sound financial management.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting operations and processes, implementing best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Team Development: Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for accounting staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging professional growth.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as procurement, HR, and operations, to ensure proper financial reporting and alignment with business objectives.
Special Projects: Assist with ad hoc financial projects and analysis as assigned by the Controller or senior management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
