About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist 1 – Accounts Receivable in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing primary support for the credit card and fraud functions for the Accounting Operations team, primarily in Accounts Receivable.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Analyze web orders in the fraud queue, research/assess fraud risk, and release outbound orders based on analysis
- Maintain, research, and collect on large volume Key and OEM Accounts to avoid delays in resolving disputed, unpaid invoices
- Prepare/maintain account reconciliations
- Analyze accounting discrepancies and resolve using independent judgment
- Provide accounting expertise and recommendations to external/internal business partners
- Record various journal entries as needed during month/quarter-end
- Prepare recurring schedules as necessary
- Create, maintain and run financial reports
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain various Excel spreadsheets for reconciling purposes
- Perform Sarbanes-Oxley testing as needed
- Independently see accounting responsibilities through to completion
- Process credit card receipts & remittances daily
- Process credit card chargebacks from credit card companies for consumers
- Support credit card reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed
- Communicate with consumers, banks, and individuals in other departments to resolve questions/problems
- Meet monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines
- Complete daily auto invoice, GCH payments, and create intercompany AR invoices
- Assist Finance department in other duties/projects as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field AND a minimum of 1 year of accounting experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must demonstrate a proficient grasp of accounting principles and have experience with account reconciliations
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, be detail-oriented with demonstrated organizational/analytical skills, and have the ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated with strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
