Opportunity overview:
We are seeking a dedicated professional to specialize in Smart ATM balancing across all credit union branch locations. This role involves daily reconciliation of the ATM settlement account and the booking of related journal entries for ATM settlements, replenishments, withdrawals, and residual vaults. The successful candidate will also update Smart ATM accounting workpapers and manage assigned general ledger accounts. Additionally, the position includes daily reconciliation of credit union operating bank accounts and the processing of accounts payable, bank checks, and money order deposits. The ideal candidate will have experience in reconciling VISA cash advances and a keen attention to detail to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Product Knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of all HHCU products and services.
Month-End Closing: Assist in the month-end closing process by booking assigned journal entries and updating work papers.
ATM Balancing Support: Monitor the shared ATM Balancing inbox, respond to inquiries, and troubleshoot issues until resolved.
Compliance Training: Complete annual Bank Secrecy/OFAC training and ensure compliance with BSA/AML regulations and policies.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with the VP of Accounting and team members to enhance the efficiency of the daily balancing process.
Procedure Updates: Update procedures for ATM Balancing and Bank Reconciliation to facilitate cross-training of team members.
Issue Communication: Communicate balancing issues and variances promptly to the VP of Accounting and relevant stakeholders for timely resolution.
Special Projects: Contribute to special projects as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, ideally within a bank or credit union setting; experience in account and ATM balancing is a plus.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with Credit Union staff, members, and third parties.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
Documentation: Strong skills in documenting processes and maintaining accurate records.
Research: Proficient in conducting research to support financial decision-making.
Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles and familiarity with GAAP.
Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting systems, procedures, and financial chart of accounts.
Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Mathematical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in calculations involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
