About the Company and the Accounting Specialist Opportunity:
- Our repeat client is a well known global insurance provider in business for over 20 years in Hunt Valley, MD
- Due to growth, they are hiring an Accounting Specialist to join their small accounting team on a contract to hire basis
- Schedule: 8:30am-5pm M-F 100% in office in Hunt Valley, MD during training. Hybrid flexibility offered after training!
- Reports directly to the Controller
- Salary $55,000 - $60,000 depending on experience
Job Duties of the Accounting Specialist:
- Preparation of the bi-monthly remittances runs for assigned carriers including, remittance reports, emails, and other reports required to remit premiums to the carriers.
- Review A/R reports and respond within the deadline.
- Complete monthly audit requirements.
- Handle high-volume reconciling discrepancies between systems.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts to system activity identifying unposted transactions and collaborating with other departments for resolution
- Assist with monthly Depreciation and Fixed Asset processing.
- Back up of other duties as requested within the department to assist with departmental needs and fill in for staff members while they are out of the office.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the Accounting Specialist:
- Bachelors in Accounting or related field highly preferred
- 3+ years' accounting experience
- Health insurance industry experience a plus, but not required
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Proficient Excel skills required
- Detail oriented, fast paced, able to meet tight deadlines
