Make a difference as an Accounting Specialist

As an Accounting Specialist at Heart of West MI United Way, you will play a vital role in our financial operations by processing invoices for payment, initially focusing on one entity but evolving to handle additional entities over time. Your keen attention to detail will ensure that payments received are reviewed meticulously and accurately applied to the corresponding customer or donor accounts. You will also be responsible for entering new pledges into our donor database system, Andar, streamlining our financial processes and enhancing donor engagement.

Requirements for this Accounting Specialist job

To thrive as an Accounting Specialist at Heart of West MI United Way, you will need a solid foundation in accounting principles, backed by a degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Ideally, you should have 1-3 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, with a strong familiarity with SAP Concur and Sage Intacct being preferred. Your proficiency in spreadsheets and proprietary software will be essential for managing financial data effectively. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, complemented by strong verbal and written communication abilities. You should be adept at managing multiple projects with set deadlines while demonstrating analytical skills for informed decision-making.

A collaborative mindset is crucial, as is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, a high attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications will also be vital for your daily tasks.

The typical offer range for this role is from minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay for this in a market scope. Please note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade for which this position belongs to. The salary offer considers a variety of factors relevant to this position, which includes knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The full salary range for this position at HWMUW is $20.17/hr - $30.26/hr.
