Our integrated approach combines stable housing with individualized case management to empower individuals to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency. SupportWorks operates multiple housing programs and collaborates with community organizations and government agencies to address the diverse needs of those experiencing homelessness. As Accounting Specialist, you will directly contribute to this mission through financial stewardship and operational excellence.
What You'll Do For SupportWorks:
- Bill Processing: Enter designated bills for the operating agency, grant-funded programs, and affiliated entities, ensuring proper approvals and documentation prior to processing.
- Check Processing: Collaborate with the Property Accountant and Senior Accountant to process in-house checks for the operating agency and related entities.
- Filing Maintenance: Maintain additional filing processes related to the SSVF program.
- Support Services: Assist Services with information, data, and payment inquiries, including disbursement reports, reconciliation, and payment copies.
- Accounts Payable Management: Support all payable matters by reviewing, researching, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Credit Card Auditing: Review, audit, and process business credit card statements.
- Uncleared Checks Resolution: Research and facilitate corrective actions for uncleared checks that are more than 90 days old.
- Tax Preparation: Prepare 1099s and 1096 for the operating agency and affiliated entities and support the maintenance and filing of W9s.
- Training: Train teammates on the accurate processing of finance-related forms to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
- Electronic Filing: Maintain an organized electronic filing system.
- Administrative Tasks: Execute finance administrative tasks as assigned.
- Process Improvement: Assist with process improvement projects as needed.
- Audit Participation: Participate in financial and grant audits as required.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Associate Director of Finance.

- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in the non-profit or government sector a plus.
