Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for conducting general accounting practices, internal controls, and performing highly specialized accounting work required to maintain the general ledger. This position is responsible for the accurate recording and processing of all accounts payable and receivable transactions as well as supporting purchasing compliance and partner account establishment. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for responding to all internal and external inquiries, posting entries general ledger, and for providing general accounting assistance to the Controller.
Job Responsibilities
- Codes and processes accounts payables or receivable transactions in alignment with the budget.
- Analyzes payables and receivables and establishes accrual and prepaid entries.
- Processes payables transactions as assigned to grant funding, and reports grant progress internally and externally.
- Generates summary sheets for use by supervisor.
- Posts journal entries to the general ledger.
- Provides reports to internal customers.
- Supports purchasing compliance by reporting deviations to the policy to supervisor.
- Supports partner account establishment, by entering information into the system.
- Reviews monthly sales orders and invoices and confirms completeness monthly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work: Sedentary work involves lifting approximately 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like files, paper, or small office equipment. A sedentary job will usually involve sitting for long periods of time, with occasional walking in the warehouse areas. Most of the work performed in a sedentary job involves operating a computer and telephone.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree Preferred
- 3-6 Years Relevant Experience
- Microsoft Office Specialist: Preferred
- Friendly and helpful attitude toward internal and external stakeholders.
- Professional manner and demeanor, including effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective project and time management skills.
- Ability to adapt to changes and quickly pivot in times of uncertainty.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills and a comfortability using technology.
