Accounting Technician - G115 Muscogee County Prison - Columbus Consolidated Government

This position is responsible for performing accounting functions in support of the correctional institution.

• Maintains inmate accounts in the CACTAS and Quicken programs; resolves inmate account issues and problems.
• Operates the inmate store; maintains accounting and inventory records.
• Maintains MCP accounts including recording deposits, withdrawals, account balances, and reconciliation; prints checks for payments out of MCP accounts.
• Enters and retrieves technical information from a computer in order to perform research, update records, process transactions, and respond to requests for information.
• Takes all deposits to the bank at the end of the day.
• Prepares narrative and statistical reports in order to track and document activities and to provide justification for department actions and requests.
• Provides information to the public about policies, guidelines, procedures, and the status of departmental and divisional activities.
• Performs the duties of the Administrative Coordinator, the Accounting Clerk, and the Administrative Support Specialist I.
• Formats and types letters and reports.
• Researches and recommends planning to improve services.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
