Accounts Payable Clerk at Vulcan Industries

Job Summary

Performs any combination of the following: calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Matches customer payments to statements. Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and account balances, using a calculator. Reconciles past due balances to open invoices. Photocopies and mails invoices as needed or takes other actions directed by management. Forwards compiled documents to clerk for computer data entry. Assists customers with account problems by telephone. Contacts customers to collect past due accounts and arranges for prompt payment on accounts over 30 days past due. Files customer statements.

• Reporting for work regularly and on time

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 1 year in an administrative/clerical position.
• Perform 4 basic math operations with decimals and fractions.
• Ability to read vendor invoices and tax returns.
• Ability to write simple sentences, series of numbers, names and addresses.
• Must be able to communicate clearly.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have intermediate computer skills (mainframe data entry, basic spreadsheet and word processing)

Other Skills

• Ability to operate or learn to operate various machines, such as: Personal computer, adding machine, calculator, copier, telephone, fax.

Performance Standards Required

• Accurate daily processing of credits to customer accounts and prompt, courteous customer communication. Timely collection of past due accounts.

Compensation details: 17-20 Hourly Wage
