POSITION PURPOSE
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing invoices for multiple locations, payment processing, vendor maintenance, resolving payment inquiries, and providing support for other department functions.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Process high volumes of detailed, time-sensitive invoices from multiple locations and functions with a high degree of accuracy work with respective teams to resolve pricing, receiving, payment, and other payables issues.
- Maintain authorized vendor master file by verifying new vendor authenticity, obtaining W-9 forms, updating changes to address, terms and locations, and resolving issues with existing setup.
- Process regular and special payment runs, ensuring that payments are correctly assigned, approved and supported.
- Transmit domestic and international wire payments through Amsted’s treasury services provider
- Research and resolve general ledger questions from North America location.
- Good Customer service skill set
- Calculate and post key month-end accounting entries.
- Facilitate company-wide employee PNC p-card program by maintaining employee accounts, auditing employee transactions, and ensuring compliance with internal policies regarding card setup and use.
- Respond to vendor inquiries
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Accounts Payable Specialist reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager. This role is responsible for working with the AP and general finance groups along with auditors, banks, customers and vendors.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- High school graduate with accounting training, AA preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Rapid and accurate data entry capabilities
- Demonstrated ability with ERP systems
- Keen attention to detail and solid mathematical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong aptitude for customer service
