Team Description
Our 11-person Finance team is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations for Cascade, maintaining accounting systems, driving and monitoring financial internal controls, supporting our investment professionals and other internal partners, and providing financial analysis and reporting. We operate in a hybrid work environment, with three in-office and two remote workdays per week.
Position Description
Are you a seasoned Accounts Payable professional seeking a significant career opportunity? Cascade, a leading private asset manager located in the greater Seattle area, is actively seeking an individual to join our dynamic accounting team. At Cascade, we oversee a multi-billion-dollar global portfolio, employing a strategic approach that involves both direct investments and collaboration with external managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage invoices with precision, ensuring timely processing through review, approvals, and payment for multiple entities into different systems (Yardi, Unifier, and Legal Tracker).
- Maintain an accurate vendor database, by entering and validating contact details, banking information, payment terms, and default set up codes into different systems (Yardi and Unifier) and submitting for vendor approval through controlled approval workflows.
- Code invoices and credit card purchases in the general ledger consistently and accurately.
- Track and enter monthly/quarterly invoices under contracts where vendors do not provide invoices (e.g., consulting agreements, rent, homeowners association fees).
- Initiate and oversee vendor payments via check, ACH, or wire payment, coordinating internal processes for payment approval.
- Initiate and oversee capital call payments via wire payment, coordinating internal processes for payment approval.
- Manage positive pay uploads for check issuances and review any exceptions.
- Keep the accounts payable master list updated to ensure recurring invoices are received on time, proactively contacting vendors to prevent missed payments.
- Oversee accounts payable period closing, engaging with accountants about accruals.
- Resolve accounting queries, conducting research and responding to internal and external client requests.
- Collaborate with the Accounting team to generate monthly reports.
- Ensure compliance with State and Local reporting requirements, including WA sales & use tax filings.
- Maintain a current W-9 database for 1099 requirements and complete annual 1099 reporting.
- Foster effective communication and build strong relationships throughout the organization.
- Contribute to reporting and process improvements within the team and across the organization, documenting updated processes.
- Assistance with monthly financial data import as requested.
- Undertake ad hoc reporting and projects as requested.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of dedicated accounts payable experience required.
- Strong aspiration to pursue and excel in a long-term career path within the accounts payable domain, with a commitment to shaping and enhancing best practices in this specialized area of finance.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of accounting (Payroll, A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Yardi general ledger experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Results-oriented, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment under strict time constraints.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills to deliver high-quality customer service.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively.
