SUMMARY
Assist the Director of Finance and Accounting in the completion of all accounting aspects of special programs and projects and other accounting functions. Adheres to internal control, policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- An associate degree from an accredited college or university is required, or a technical degree or certification from an accredited college or university and at least one year of related experience. Experience in a non-profit setting is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, as well as other accounting software programs.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Effective communication skills, both in verbal and written form. Ability to write reports, business communications, and procedure manuals and proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, and clarity. Spanish language proficiency is preferred, but not required.
- Must have good telephone communication and customer relations skills with the ability to effectively respond to questions from management, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds in a manner that is consistent with HACU's culture, mission, and values.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously within deadlines and high attention to detail.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure and meet challenges with resourcefulness and provide alternative solutions.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze data, resolve discrepancies, optimize processes, and support overall department objectives.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Completes full-cycle accounting for special programs and projects as assigned.
- Analyzes monthly revenue and expense account balances and details budget to actual revenues and expenses.
- Assists program directors in preparation of annual budgets for federal and corporate funded programs.
- Reconciles, tracks, and monitors assigned bank accounts and the corporate American Express card.
- Processes assigned cash receipts.
- Reconciles, tracks, and monitors assigned general ledger accounts. (A/R, Employee Receivable, Prepaid Postage)
- Tracks and reconciles all membership and conferences revenue and collections.
- Works closely with the membership and conference departments for finance and accounting needs and requests.
- Completes forms that are required from Finance for credit card payments etc.
- Depending on staffing requirements, the Accounts Receivable Coordinator may be required to travel to assist with HACU's Annual Conference.
- Assist in annual audit activites.
- Cross-trains with other accounting personnel and serves as backup for assigned functions.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial data and vendor information.
- Monitors Lease payments.
- Responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may evolve; additional duties may be assigned based on department needs to support overall objectives.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay.
- Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and evenings.
- Working conditions are in an office environment with long periods of sitting, occasional standing, walking, or moving between workstations.
- Occasionally may need to lift items (files or paperwork) weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Moderate noise levels typical of an office
- Regular interaction via phone, email, and in-person
- Typical office lighting and ventilation conditions
- Maintains and ensures security of HACU-issued equipment, software, data, and supplies.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
