Active Transportation Design Intern - BCC Engineering

We are currently looking to add an Active Transportation Design Intern to our team for Spring 2025. As an Active Transportation Design Intern, your responsibilities will include: 

Under the supervision of a licensed engineer, analyze and prepare designs, calculations and drawings for a wide range of public and private sector projects.

• Provide drafting and design assistance for a wide variety of projects, from report stage through design and construction administration
• Become familiar with engineering plans and specifications and assigned software
• Follow production guidelines and project standards in the department drafting standards manual
• Approach tasks with an open mindset
• Perform field work under direction of others
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation
• May occasionally interpret general designs prepared by engineers or designers to complete minor details
• Coordinate with other technicians, designers, and engineers to complete details and ensure a cohesive design
• Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
• Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals

• Proficient, or ability to quickly become proficient in applicable engineering design software
• Proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat
• Takes pride in delivering creative design solutions accurately and efficiently
• Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and cooperate with engineers and designers
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced team environment; self-motivated and possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
• Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit
• Takes pride in delivering quality work-product with minimal revisions required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Pursuing a degree in a relevant STEM field
• Must possess excellent technical and communication skills
