As an Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing a variety of recreational activities and programs that promote socialization, physical activity, and mental stimulation among our residents. Ideal candidates will have a passion for working with seniors, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude. Prior experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required. Essential Functions:
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating resident activities.
- Encourages resident participation in programs and activities.
- Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
- Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
- Conducts various activities at the direction of the Resident Program Director.
- Maintains necessary activity supplies, which may include outside purchasing.
- Assists in the surveying and interviewing of residents to determine interests, talents and resident satisfaction.
- Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
- Follows departmental budget guidelines.
- Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year experience or related experience performing activity related duties
- Ability to assume leadership role in the activities department in the absence of the Activities Director
- Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities
- Moderate physical activity:
- Requires handling of average-weight objects up to twenty five (25) pounds.
- Repetitive standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Repetitive bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
- Sitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.
- May require consistent computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen.
- Physical ability to travel to sites.
