About the Job
Under the direction and supervision of the Life Enrichment Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of the activity programs. This will be done in accordance with existing federal, state, and local standards as well as our established policies and procedures to ensure that the spiritual, developmental, emotional, recreational, and social needs and interests of the residents are met on an individual basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure residentdirected plans of care as it relates to each resident’s choices in activities.
Assist in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of the center to meet the needs and interests of each resident regardless of his/her cognitive level.
Assist in identifying and monitoring the spiritual, social, recreational, and emotional needs and interests of the residents through routine interviews and visits.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with other departments within the center to ensure that activity programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs and interests of the residents.
Maintain resident confidentiality and treat them with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Assist in interviewing residents and families to better provide activities to meet the residents’ needs and interests.
Maintain and document activity progress notes as well as a record of the residents’ activities.
Implement the current activities schedule as directed.
Assist in providing individual activities to residents as assigned in accordance with the residents’ care plans.
Provide information to residents and families that will show activity programs available.
Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with all governmental regulations.
Assist in arranging transportation and attending outside field trips for residents.
Activities Assistant
Assist in obtaining craft supplies and materials needed for specific programs.
Meet with Life Enrichment Manager on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a CNA
Completion of high school education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance as required.
Must be able to work weekend
Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT: Frequent walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling. Willing to work beyond normal working hours and during disastrous circumstances, as needed. Willing to work in other positions temporarily, as needed. Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, and outside agencies and to work cooperatively with other associates. Ability to present to groups. Ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to communicate with local staff, remote staff, and outside agencies.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Understand, comply with, and promote rules regarding residents’ rights. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Maintain an orderly, confidential, and safe work environment. Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures. Attend and participate in training and inservice education. Assist in orientation and training other staff. Perform other duties as assigned
