Job Description
The Activities Assistant works closely with the Activity Director to plan, coordinate and implement the activity programming for the Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care residents of Cardigan Ridge Senior Living. This position helps plan events, trips and seasonal celebrations, as well as help run and facilitate the daily and weekly activities schedule. The candidate should have experience in the planning and execution of activities and programming that provides physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development opportunities for senior living community members, and ideally is just as comfortable planning activities as leading them. Currently, we are hiring for 2-3 mornings a week and every other weekend - 12-15 hours/week.
Essential Functions
COLLABORATE: Plan programs with Life Enrichment Team. This is a highly collaborative role, working with the Activities Staff to develop innovative, exciting, and original programs for our vibrant senior living community.
CONFIDENCE: Set-up and conduct programs that meet a variety of physical, cognitive and social needs of our clients.
LISTENING: Participate in receiving client feedback on programs with the Activities Director and create timely action plans to enhance programs to match our client's requests. We are constantly evolving our programming to reflect the needs, talents, skills, and interests of our residents.
FRIENDLY: This role works closely with the residents in our community, often spending time talking, helping, listening, or co-leading our programming offerings. Being comfortable and willing to be friendly, present, mindful, and helpful are qualities this candidate should demonstrate.
FLEXIBILITY: This role should be flexible to meet the ever-changing demands and expectations of the job, based on the needs of our complex and interdependent senior living community.
ORGANIZATION: This candidate should have good organization skills, or be willing to develop their sense of organization, and will work collaboratively with the Activities Staff to deliver timely, appropriate programming to the residents on an ongoing basis.
TECHNOLOGY: A moderate-to-expert level familiarity and proficiency with computer, iPad, and Internet technology is a must. This role will engage in online scheduling, document creation and co-development, and must feel comfortable and competent with computer work.
RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED: Candidate should be focused on the relational nature of the job, taking time during their day to get to know each individual resident to better support the programming and development of the activities and to enhance the community and sense of belonging in the building.
INDEPENDENT: Candidate should be able to manage, run, and facilitate their own programming ideas independently, as well as collaboratively.
