Job Title: Activities Director
Department: Activities
Status: Salary, Exempt
Primary Purpose: The activities director is responsible for providing a comprehensive assessment and care planning of the resident's preferences for activities and conducting an ongoing program to support choices of both facility and individual activities.
Essential Duties:
- This is a department head level position and requires the director to be an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Manages a small team of activity aides
- Interviews, assesses, and develops activity care plans based on resident needs and preferences.
- Attends resident care conferences, reassesses changes in care plans and updates families when appropriate.
- Maintains documentation in the resident record
- Develops monthly and ongoing schedules of activities
- Assists the residents in running the Resident Council
- Assists residents to exercise their rights including voting
- Completes training in dementia care
EDUCATION:
The successful candidate will be "Qualified therapeutic recreational specialist" or an activities professional who is
(A) Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreational specialist;
(B) Has two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full time in an activities program;
(C) Is a qualified occupational therapist;
(D) Has completed an approved State training course in activities
