Activity Instructor - Good Shepherd Services

We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Activity Instructor for Martial Arts or Creative Arts to work with us. 

Reports to: Program Director

Location: 2195 Andrews Avenue, Bronx NY 10453

Hours: 8 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Design, plan and conduct activities and workshops in specified areas of education, in either Martial Arts or Creative Arts.
• Submit lesson/activity plans in-advance.
• Conduct activities enriched with literacy and math skills whenever possible. 
• Plan and implement a culminating event or project. 
• Complete daily progress reports and attendance.
• Manage setup, operation and clean-up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
• Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.
• Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must have experience or skill in performing, visual, and creative arts, or martial arts and physical education.
• Must have the ability to work late afternoons and evenings.
• Excellent group facilitation skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective. 
• Ability to complete required Dept of Health and Dept of Education background clearances.
