As a leading Residential Treatment Center in the Greater Richmond area, Hallmark Youthcare treats adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues triggered by trauma. Treatment is provided in a warm and friendly environment by a group of well-trained, highly motivated staff that take pride in delivering quality care.
Pay: $18 - $21 hourly
Hours: Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday 1pm -9:30pm. Full Time and Part Time positions available.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Director of Activity Therapy the Activity Therapy Assistant develops, directs, and implements activity therapy services as assigned by the Director.
- AT Assistant interacts appropriately with residents and families according to Facility policies and procedures, program treatment philosophy, and multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- AT Assistant is responsible for the group’s emotional and physical safety, implementing all departmental policies and procedures and any related duties as required/assigned.
- Responsible for completing assigned documentation, to include progress notes and Recreation assessments on the day of service, in an accurate manner meeting quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in the care of the residents to ensure comprehensive services are family driven, youth guided, and culturally competent to sustain positive outcomes.
- Demonstrates understanding of and ability to implement the Sanctuary Model and its trauma-informed approach to services for residents and their families, the seven commitments, and the tools of the model including Red Flag meetings, Treatment Team Meetings, the SELF paradigm, safety plans and community meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Maintains CPR/First Aid/AED and Handle Care certifications.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy of residents’ personally identifiable health and personnel information in accordance with HIPAA privacy rules and facility policies.
- Meets mandatory staff development requirements per the standards of all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.
- One year experience in recreation with adolescents.
- Must be certified or able to become certified in CPR, first aid, AED and Handle with Care.
- Must have valid Virginia Driver’s License in good standing if on Hallmark’s Approved Driver’s List
- If functioning as Lifeguard at any time, must present in advance, certification of completion of an accredited lifeguard training program.
- Ability to direct TR groups directly and effectively with adolescents.
- Ability to communicate in English effectively and document information accurately.
- Communicates effectively with all disciplines involved in the care of the residents.
- Ability to work well with others in a team setting and work well with a moderate level of direct supervision.
- Basic knowledge of adolescent development, childcare principles and practices, positive peer culture, and mental health principles.
- Knowledge of basic psychiatric terminology preferred.
- Ability to interact appropriately with the residents in accordance with Hallmark Youthcare’s Treatment Philosophy, the Program Manual, Individual Treatment Plan, and unit programs.
- Microsoft Office Applications/Software.
