Position Summary
Provides direct patient care by evaluation and treatment in patient population served according to age and condition. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills of self and others. Provides appropriate leadership. Meets competency requirements. Will also be involved in team dynamics and participate in interdisciplinary activities when appropriate.
Responsibilities
1. Provides direct patient care by evaluating, setting goals, designing treatment programs, performing treatments, re-evaluating and modifying treatments, participating in discharge planning and providing patient/caregiver education for patients whom the therapist is qualified to treat, according to age and condition, by virtue of training and orientation. Adjusts work load to meet the demands of patient care including the alteration of scheduled work hours including weekends. Is responsible for the safety of patients assigned while they are in the patient treatment areas and is aware of the overall safety conditions in the areas. Unsafe conditions or actions are to be corrected and /or reported to appropriate management staff. Actively participates in supervising students as deemed appropriate by the supervisor/clinical coordinator.
2. Completes documentation requirements promptly, accurately and thoroughly according to policies. Communicates and interacts with other health care professionals, patient/caregiver according to age group and background in an appropriate and timely manner through verbal, written or nonverbal.
3. Meets clinical productivity standards. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills by attendance at inservices and continuing education programs and shares such knowledge and skills with others. Additional training/certification as deemed necessary to practice in a specialty area as dictated by patients' ages or conditions.
4. Assists in the development, revision, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures. Attends and participates in all mandatory inservices/meetings. Assists in the orientation of personnel. Actively participates in: establishment of program goals and objective, establishment of program budget, staff utilization including the supervision and delegation of portions of patient care to appropriate personnel, space allocation, quality improvement and program development.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation with Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree from an APTA Accredited school of Physical Therapy.
Less than three years of licensure.
Current valid license or eligible for licensure for Physical Therapy by The North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
