Responsibility
As an ADAS Safety Engineer you will work on the safety of our autonomous driving features and ADAS features. A major contribution will be the elicitation of functional safety requirements and the development of verification and validation methods for Functional Safety and SOTIF. This includes the analysis of triggering events like misuse scenarios, changing environment conditions and other potential hazards associated with our ADAS features. In this role, you will use your technical skills and work cross functionally to develop engineering solutions based on existing automotive industry standards (Ie. ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, IEEE 2846, etc.) that help define development processes, requirements, and verification of safety and performance.
- Define creative technical solutions to improve performance and safety of ADAS features
- Develop work products in accordance with our internal safety process based on existing industry standards
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment based on a functional system specification and identify risk acceptance criteria
- Identify potential functional insufficiencies and triggering events by utilizing analysis techniques such as HAZOP, FTA, FMEA, STPA, and misuse analysis
- Collaborate cross functionally to ensure that our ADAS feature safety concepts and requirements are aligned with the overall system design strategy.
- Derive verification and validation test cases to demonstrate the safety of ADAS features
- Provide feedback and improve the internal development processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong ADAS system engineering background
- Working knowledge of relevant standards and methods such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448
- Experience performing System Safety Engineering tasks for ADAS features such as various analysis techniques (HAZOP/HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA, etc)
- Ability to drive technical solutions for SW and HW design in safety concepts
- Experienced in requirements writing based on industry best practices
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity
- Experience working within a cross-functional team
Preferred Experience
- General knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence is a plus
- Work experience applying System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a plus
- Knowledge of system and vehicle simulation techniques used for ADAS features is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $180,000 Annually
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on many factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation and this role may be eligible for bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
