Salary: $220,000 - $265,000 per year
Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated Addictionologist (MD) to join our multidisciplinary team in a substance abuse and recovery center in Sacramento, California. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients struggling with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment where you will be instrumental in developing and implementing treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Conduct thorough assessments, including medical history and physical exams, to diagnose and treat substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and manage appropriate medications, including buprenorphine, methadone, and other pharmacotherapies, in accordance with best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medical, therapeutic, and psychosocial interventions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, social workers, and nurses.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapies, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and contingency management, to support recovery and improve patient outcomes.
- Coordination of Care: Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, mental health specialists, and case managers, to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to patient care.
- Education and Advocacy: Educate patients, families, and community members about the risks of substance use, treatment options, and strategies for relapse prevention. Advocate for patients' needs and support their journey to recovery.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MD): Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certification: Board certification in Addiction Medicine (ABAM or equivalent) or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame. Board certification in Psychiatry is preferred but not required.
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted California medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of California.
