The Additive Manufacturing (AM) group in Department 342 is a newly established organization at Electric Boat. The organization is growing rapidly and is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, proactive engineers to drive and perform AM research, development, implementation and sustainment activities. The individual shall be comfortable with presenting technical and non-technical information to EB and NAVSEA senior leadership. By nature of having a newly established organization, this individual’s task will be diverse and constantly changing based on need. As such the department is looking for an adaptive engineer that desires to expand their skillset in a fast pace environment.
General Description of Position: This position will have a diverse range of cross-functional initiatives that offer unique exposure to multiple areas of the business and senior level personal at Electric Boat and NAVSEA. This position may include traveling to vendors and conventions. Tasking for this role will include but is not limited to:
- Coordinating with various engineering disciplines to gather pertinent technical information in support of part transitions.
- Developing, analyzing, and managing datasets for AM including but not limited to, potential additive manufacturing part candidates, vendor base and vendor base capabilities, equipment available, and maintenance of Plans of Actions and Milestone POAMS. As such, this individual will be responsible for providing recommendation and reports, such as a vendor base gap assessment with identified corrective actions.
- Organization of status meetings, working level discussion, stakeholder updates, and staying keyed-in to details of each assigned project. This information will feed to the senior and executive level teams at EB and NAVSEA.
- Develop and/or lead the development of technical and non-technical submittals to NAVSEA such as implementation plans, specification requirements, transmittals and letters.
- Drive progress on tasking with contributors that are not direct reports such as NAVSEA and suppliers.
Required:
- BS Degree in Engineering or related Engineering Technology
- Minimum 2+ years of experience
Preferred:
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Knowledge/experience in welding, materials, EB design experience (CATIA and/or Team Center), and/or AM is a plus but is not required. Successful candidates will have the ability to learn quickly and adapt to rapidly changing environment.
- Candidate must have a strong project management background.
- Candidate must have a strong communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical and non-technical information.
- Capability to self-govern task/time management and operate with a professional degree of autonomy on large scale tasking with limited oversight and/or management guidance.
- Possess self-criticality to identify and communicate when assistance or additional training/information is necessary to successfully complete assigned tasking.
