What You’ll Be Doing:
Uphold Cruise’s Safety First culture
Operate an autonomous vehicle (AV) manually or in autonomous in a public space or Cruise private property, with and without occupants and for testing and non-testing purposes.
Monitoring and logging responsibilities and providing verbal feedback/directions about AV’s environment. Completing timely and detailed ride reports for operations and engineering teams.
Alternate between driving and notetaking functions every two hours for up to an entire shift.
Respond to situations in the field when AVs are unable to continue autonomous operations, including manually driving to an incident site; triaging, recovering, and retrieving AVs; interacting professionally with parties while on location to include remote stakeholders, customers, first responders, law enforcement, and tow truck operators; completing incident documentation and reporting; and potentially transporting customers to a determined destination.
Perform Cruise vehicle readiness duties including manually driving vehicles between facilities and to charging stations, parking and staging vehicles, charging vehicles at Cruise facilities and at public charging stations, performing systems fire-up and functional checks, and cleaning and disinfecting vehicles.
Perform operational support duties including using Cruise’s proprietary software, using Slack to assist with troubleshooting and operational needs, deploying and returning AVs to facility, performing vehicle safety and integrity checks, and executing ‘Lost and Found’ procedures.
Raising opportunities for improvement from systemic issues observed; strategize and make recommendations for improvements
Ensuring the success of the shift by meeting service-level agreements
Assisting with special projects across teams to deliver on interdependent KPIs
Participating in the ongoing training and mentoring of new team members
Performing other ad hoc, job-related duties as assigned, including those in support of AV testing, delivery and other community support and/or pilots
What You Must Have:
Prioritization of safety and maintain a safety-first mindset, while following all safe work practices and policies
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, including interacting with the public
Currently hold an active, valid regular driver's license from state where based
Successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and DMV Motor Vehicle Record check, as required by the local market (which might include Department of Transportation drug testing)
Ability to drive and/or ride in vehicle alternating roles for up to eight hours/day
Ability to remain alert and extremely focused for up to two-hour uninterrupted blocks of time
Ability to accurately type and read on a laptop in a moving vehicle
Ability to give and receive clear, prompt, and understandable verbal and written communications
High attention to detail
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in accordance with Cruise safety protocols and applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to: having a sufficient range of motion to frequently turn a steering wheel, operate the accelerator and brake, check blind spots and evaluate the environment, and maintaining appropriate air bag clearance
Ability to tolerate occasional abrupt starts, stops, turns, and maneuvers associated with driving or taking control of the AV in both training and daily job functions
Ability to regularly perform physical work including, but not limited to, stooping, lifting, and moving up to 30 pounds and walking up and down flights of stairs
Computer literacy with an emphasis on laptop usage. Expectations include skills such as navigating through multiple accounts and windows quickly, using common keyboard shortcuts, and using various software programs to include instant messaging. Must type a minimum of 20 wpm.

Previous service level operations experience
Operational experience with a large, 24/7 business
Mobility or transportation experience, particularly with a large fleet
Entrepreneurial experience/ownership mentality or other innovation history
Enthusiasm for the potential of autonomous driving to move life forward in our cities and improve road safety
Work Schedule:
40 working hours/week, 8.5 hour shifts (including one 30 min unpaid meal break), and two consecutive days off (subject to operational needs)

Pay Details: $19.50 to $21.50 per hour
