SALARY: 2024 $52,621 NYS Retirement; Health, Dental, Vision Benefits; Paid time off; CSEA Union; Yearly increases

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form. A résumé will notbe accepted in place of a completed application; either
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of full time paid administrative or office support experience with a public agency or private business; OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of full time paid administrative or office support experience with a public agency or private business; OR
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of full time paid administrative or office support experience with a public agency or private business.
SPECIAL NOTES:
ADMINISTRATIVE AND OFFICE SUPPORT experience is defined as: Coordinates work of the office at the direction of Department manager.
Degree must have been awarded by a college or university by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education/US Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. DUTIES: The work involves responsibility for assisting the Department by performing various administrative and office support duties including, but not limited to, fiscal recordkeeping, project tracking, follow office policies and procedures, and provide customer service on behalf of the Department to the public. The work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and under the general supervision of the Deputy Commissioner/Mayor of the Department or the designated department manager with leeway for independent judgment. The incumbent does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)
- Provides information over the telephone and to the public on programs and services and their requirements
- Schedules appointments or assist individuals in applying for services or explains procedures and program processes
- Compiles data and background material to assist in various administrative/professional activities
- Assists professional staff in analyzing and evaluating methods, procedures, forms, applications, etc
- Maintains relevant department records, in hardcopy and digital formats, in designated filing systems for maps, documents, applications, correspondence, etc.
- Performs the collection, tabulation and analysis of statistical and financial data at the direction of the professional staff and/or Department manager
- Participates in professional conferences and training programs as applicable to duties
