The Administrative Assistant earns a competitive hourly wage of $19.22 - $20.81/based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform clerical duties for the Fire Department.
Essential Functions:
- Provides customer service; answers telephone, directs calls, and takes messages.
- Maintains and updates Fire Department training records, filing, inventory either manually or using a computer.
- Communicates with employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminates or explains information, and addresses complaints.
- Prepares and sends correspondence; updates phone numbers and addresses.
- Maintains calendars; coordinates meetings and appointments.
- Inventories, orders and replenishes office supplies.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in accounting or closely related field.
- Requires two years clerical or closely related experience.
- Valid Texas Driver's License
