About the Job
The Administrative Assistant holds a vital role to provide administrative support to the Director of the Center for Human Rights, a significant portion of which is the M.A. in Human Rights program (operated through the IHE). The Assistant provides essential administrative services for the program, including aiding with student recruitment, scholarships, orientation, and course scheduling and enrollment. The Assistant will maintain a calendar of necessary taskings for the M.A. Program each year, coordinate with the various departments on campus, and serve as the first point of contact for students (potential, enrolled, and alumni).
Further, the Assistant will aid in the broader operations of the Center for Human Rights, planning a lecture each fall on campus and possible other events; processing reimbursements, payments, and contracts for the Center; and assist with maintaining records of and applying for grant funding. The Assistant will also on occasion aid the staff of the IHE on projects and programs of joint interest between the IHE and the Center.

The ideal candidate will be adept at coordinating a busy agenda, adhering to deadlines, anticipating problems and taking initiative, following through on independent projects, and planning events (both in-person and virtual). This person will respond promptly to emails and keep track of taskings in an organized and efficient manner.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $25.00/hour
Responsibilities:- Assist with a wide variety of administrative support tasks for the Center for Human Rights.
- Work closely with the Center Director to provide student support, scheduling assistance, application tracking, and course planning/scheduling.
- Perform a variety of administrative, office, and financial tasks, and event support (including planning and attendance at evening events).
- Process contracts, scholarship paperwork, stipends, and reimbursements for students, faculty, and other contractors for all aspects of the Center.
- Coordinate with outside contractors to ensure the success of the Center’s podcast and other media, assisting with scheduling, timely payment, and content as needed.
- Plan events and oversee student recruitment for the program.
- Communicate with and assist students.
- Assist students in connecting them with internships, fellowships, jobs, conference opportunities, and publication opportunities to forward their careers.
- Oversee department interns and submit student hours to payroll.
- Produce written content for various items including department emails, newsletter, stewardship reports, website, and social media post.
- Bachelor's degree in Business
- 2 + years of related administrative, communications, teaching, and/or events experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Docs, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF Editor, and Canva
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with academic programming and administrative assistance.
- Experience working with students (preferably at the university level).
- Proactive with ideas for development and programming, and passionate about the care and formation of students and promoting the mission of the Center.
