Job Description Summary
The Outpatient Cancer and Blood Disorders Administrative Assistant serves as initial contact for patients, families and referring providers to connect with pediatric hematology and oncology outpatient services. This role is instrumental in facilitating timely, multidisciplinary care and obtaining records needed for a meaningful new patient experience. The clinic administrative assistant works closely with the multidisciplinary teams to provide optimal service and patient experience outcomes.Entity

Job Description
The Outpatient Cancer and Blood Disorders Administrative Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under direct supervision, the administrative assistant offers individualized assistance to patients and caregivers to assist in overcoming healthcare system barriers and is the primary contact for all clinic scheduling needs. This role promotes informed decision making and timely access to quality patient care while providing a vital link in communication between multidisciplinary providers both internal and external to MUSC during treatment planning for patients and caregivers.
Additional Job Description
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in healthcare.
- Experience in referral management, oncology navigation or patient access is preferred.
In addition, the applicant must have considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology, strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships both internally and externally, strong organizational skills, ability to rapidly prioritize/reprioritize, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work autonomously and in teams, critical-thinking skills, and ability to multi-task.
