- Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties in support of assigned department. Completes less routineassignments. Duties and tasks are more complex. Exercises judgment to solve more complex problems.

- Job Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, distributes mail and performs otherclerical duties as assigned.
- Communicates with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care.
- Produces and maintains various reports, surveys and documents for unit staff; photocopies and distributesand/or files as necessary. Transcribes/enters physicians' orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse.Asks for clarification when necessary.
- Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patientrecords and charts.
- Processes internal and external requests from physicians' offices and nursing stations and other departments.
- Perform duties of purchasing agent for the department through requisition entry, equipment inventory andrecord keeping in accordance with budget guidelines.
- Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements.Maintains assigned calendar(s).
- May assist with staff scheduling as directed.
- Maintains work area and related supplies and equipment.
- Assists with evaluating the office environment, revising procedures, improving efficiency of workflow, andinitiating cost reduction programs.
- Education
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- None required.
- Work Experience
- 2 to 8 years progressive experience in a related field required.
- Skills and Attributes
- Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization. Requires critical thinking skills anddecisive judgment. Works under general supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.
