Saint Joseph East is a 217-bed full-service community hospital located in the rapidly growing southeastern section of Lexington Kentucky. Responsibilities:With the support and direction of the Assistant to the President and the President and CEO, the Administrative Assistant provides clerical, administrative and marketing support to the organization. Duties include extensive data entry, chart assembly, patient satisfaction surveys, ordering of supplies, preparing reports and data for reports and other clerical duties as required to support the organization. Assist with the organization, administration, and completion of daily clerical duties. Provides clerical support to the President and CEO and Unit Manager. Must demonstrate motivation, communication skills, collaboration, and be able to function in a low structure environment.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Quality Management – Assist QA specialists in extracting patient data from medical charts to efficiently document department statistics to comply with MBSAQIP Data registry and other credentialing agencies.
- Completes FMLA and Disability forms for patients, insurance companies and family members. Utilizes CPT, Diagnostics and Procedure codes.
- Medical Records - Provides medical records to requesting parties (Attorneys, Government offices, physician offices, patients, etc.
- General Administrative - Using EPIC system, answering phones, preparing educational materials, covering for the insurance coordinator when necessary, and general office duties.
- Patient Contact - Answer patient inquiries regarding the program and center.
- Scheduling - Assist with patient scheduling to include medical exams, initial visits and indicated pre and post op assessment studies with the hospital.
- Patient Support - Ability to discuss patient concerns pre and post operatively and provide clinical and emotional support throughout workup and follow up procedure.
- Psychological Support - Assure compassionate environment within center of all involved personnel throughout patient flow.
- Insurance – Assist with insurance verification and precertification when required.
- Image/PR - Promote positive images of CHI Saint Joseph Health and of Bariatric Program at all times.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training | One year of clerical experience. Must be able to word process 55 wpm. Must demonstrate proficiency with the following software applications. Word, Excel, and basic Access. Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies. |
