The Position
Administrative Assistants play a key role in supporting a department's mission to provide a superior level of public service and interdepartmental support in the most practical and competent manner possible. As a key ambassador to the department’s mission, this position is critical in its contributions to productivity. This position performs advanced administrative and clerical duties requiring independent judgement and discretion and may provide training and/or direction to less experienced office support staff.
The Administrative Assistant position is utilized throughout multiple departments in the City. The current vacancies are in the Police Department and Community Services Department.The Library Division of the Community Services Department is seeking a dynamic Administrative Assistant who has exceptional administrative skills to prepare correspondence, agenda items and reports, process invoices, and create purchase orders. The Administrative Assistant must have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines, oversee multiple projects, and provide exceptional customer service to library patrons. This position will answer phones and respond to general inquiries, coordinate special events and activities in the department, provide administrative support to library management, and perform other duties as assigned.
The Torrance Police Department is seeking 3 exceptional Administrative Assistants who will be assigned to the following divisions: Financial Planning, Professional Standards, and Special Investigations.
The Financial Planning Division is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for coordinating the purchasing and procurement activities for the Department and serving as liaison with City Purchasing and Finance. This Administrative Assistant reports to the Senior Business Manager.
The Professional Standards Division is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for managing orders of materials and ensuring documents related to California POST are updated in a timely manner. This role includes serving as a liaison between multiple entities within the Professional Standards Division to maintain coordination and efficiency.
The Special Investigations Division is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for managing documents related to criminal investigations, filing paperwork related to investigations, and updating records in a timely manner. This role includes serving as a liaison between multiple teams within the Special Investigations division to maintain coordination and efficiency.
