Description of Work

This position will serve as part of the Administrative Staff assigned to the Rockingham County Maintenance office.
Perform varied clerical duties in the Rockingham County Maintenance office. Primary responsibility: Answering incoming calls, determining the nature and urgency of those calls and provide routine information to callers or direct calls to appropriate staff. Serves as primary point of contact for office visitors. This position performs a wide variety of office and clerical duties to accomplish processing of information, documents and materials. Work includes but not limited to maintaining inventory, requisitions, orders for supplies and materials, payments to consultants and vendors, damage claim and payroll. This individual will prepare and distribute a variety of memorandums, letters and emails to contractors, vendors, general public and insurance companies. This position will operate a personal computer and use a variety of applications including but not limited to SAP, Beacon, TIMS, Travelers Online Auto Claims System, SharePoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Position utilizes a variety of office machines including but not limited to printers, copiers, calculators, and shredders. Position is subject to emergency call back and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

General knowledge of office work procedures, methods, and practices. Computer skills. Excellent verbal and communication skills. Ability to utilize Personnel Manual and Policy and Procedures Manual. Perform Receptionist duties (Walk-in, Telephone, and Two-Way Radio.) Ability to use a variety of office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and adding machine/calculator. Applicant must be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office. General knowledge of SAP preferred. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to work in an inside environment including being exposed to significant sitting for long periods of time. Ability to stoop and bend for filing purposes. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
