Department Summary
The department of Geography is a diverse, interdisciplinary, and collaborative department. Our faculty comprises 14 members from 7 countries with expertise in: Earth Science & Modeling; Globalization, Development, & Cities; Human Systems & the Environment; and GIS & Remote Sensing. We are located in the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building (EESAT) along with environmental scientists and environmental philosophers as well as the Elm Fork Education Center.
Position Overview
The Administrative Coordinator is the lead person in the department front office. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the departmental budget; assisting faculty with grant and project budgets; overseeing office staff; and planning semester and summer course schedules. Other responsibilities include payroll, faculty travel, staff professional development, and other duties (see below).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Duties:
- Administer all aspects of departmental budgets on all departmental chart strings. Prepare and maintain proper documentation; handle all purchasing requirements for department. Approve invoices. Holder of department pcard; Oversee classified and hourly payroll documents in EIS. Prepare ePARs; process faculty travel.
- Lead front office, including supervision of staff, maintain web page and assist with social media, creating marketing materials such as flyers, newsletters images; oversee departmental records; oversee front office operations; maintain communication with other UNT offices.
- Serve as representative in faculty meetings: maintain minutes; administer polls and surveys.
- Prepare course schedules for each semester and summer, purchase course support materials.
- Provide administrative assistance to chair: Budgetary advice, prepare correspondence, prepare reports and responses to official inquiries.
Work Schedule:
8:00am to 5:00pm; Monday - Friday; 40 hrs/wk.
