About the Job
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive research on individuals, foundations, and corporations to identify potential major donors, including wealth indicators, philanthropic interests, and connections.
- Utilize various research tools and databases to gather information.
- Analyze research findings and prepare detailed profiles and summaries for use by the team in donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the database system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, including gift officers, prospect researchers, and database administrators, to support fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as nonprofit management, fundraising, market research, or information science.
- Strong research skills with the ability to gather, evaluate, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Proficiency in using online research tools and databases, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and succinctly.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fundraising or nonprofit environment, particularly in donor research or prospect management.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or DonorPerfect.
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines and best practices in prospect research and fundraising.
