Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in business, health care administration, public health or related area is preferred. 

Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of long term care facility experience preferred.

Professional Licensure and Certification Required: Current NY State Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) certification,

Essential Functions

1. Supervises all clinical and administrative staff and functions within the facility
2. Develops and implements facility management systems
3. Manages facility finances and oversees departmental budgets
4. Ensures facility compliance with all Federal, State and company policies and regulations
5. Oversee all employee relations to include recruitment, orientation, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, terminations, training, staff development and enforcement of policies and procedures
6. Ensures compliance with resident rights and works to resolve grievances
7. Coordinates preparations for inspections (surveys) conducted by authorized agencies
8. Performs rounds to observe care and to interview staff, residents, families or other interested parties
9. Performs institutional rounds to ensure that facility is compliant with Federal, State and local regulations
10. Oversees and participates in quality assurance and improvement processes within the facility

Personnel Functions

1. Oversees all department’s schedules to assure they meet resident needs; also monitors regulatory and budgetary standards.
2. Participates in the recruitment and selection of all department personnel and assures sufficient staff are hired.
3. Ensures that the development and delivery of in-service education to equip all staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for resident rights.
4. Evaluates the work performance of all personnel, assists in the determination of wage increases and implements discipline according to operational policies.
5. Assures staff is trained in fire, disaster and other emergency Evaluates staff performance during drills.

Staff Development Functions

1. Conducts departmental meetings to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
2. Oversees the orientation of new staff members to the facility and ensures that appropriate education and mentoring is in place.
3. Completes all mandatory in-service programs; ensures all employees participate in yearly mandatory educational requirements.

Safety and Infection Control

1. Ensures that established protocols during fire drills and disaster drill training are followed by all departments.
2. Consistently monitors the Maintenance Department’s preventative maintenance program to ensure the safety of all included machines, equipment and devices within Highland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
3. Oversees the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control program
