Chief Purpose of this position:  The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking a candidateto provide Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinical care along with supportingthe academic mission in research and education.  The ACHD program completed theaccreditation site visit and institutionally has support for strong aprogram.  The incumbent will join anestablished group of physicians and surgeons in one of the top Heart Centers inthe United States.

Position Responsibilities:  The candidate will provide comprehensive care in the inpatientand outpatient setting for adults with congenital heart disease regardless ofseverity of illness.  The candidate will collaborate witha multidisciplinary team of experts, including pediatric cardiologists,congenital and adult cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists,electrophysiologists, advanced heart failure and transplant specialists,hepatologists, social workers, nurses, and others.  The candidate will participate in outreach clinics and in research and educational activities related to ACHD, such as publishingpapers, presenting at conferences, teaching fellows and residents, andmentoring students.  The candidate will assist in the development of an ACHD fellowship.

Required Qualifications: 

• Must be a board certified cardiologist and board certified/board eligible in AdultCongenital Heart Disease
• Must be clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teachingexperience to be eligible for an academic appointment
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a largemulti-disciplinary program
• Must participate in teaching and fellowship programs
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering adiverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so asfaculty member of VCU
