JOB DESCRIPTION
DAY SERVICE DIRECTOR
GENERAL STATEMENT:
While this position specifies responsibilities, requirements and duties in certain operational areas, this person is an employee at will of Independent Living Services and will be expected to respond to such requests not specifically contained herein. This person must maintain the attitude that he/she works for the total organization, and as such, exhibit proper cooperation, enthusiasm and interest in all areas deemed necessary for the continuing success of ILS programs. Knowledge of the ILS Policy and Personnel Manuals is required.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Day Service Director works under the supervision of the Executive Director. This employee will schedule the workday in such a way that supervision and services are provided in an effective manner consistent with policies, procedures of ILS/CL and Federal and State laws/regulations. The Day Service Director acts as a representative of the organization; and performs other duties as assigned. The Day Service Director will be part of a team of consumers, service professionals, family members, and others identified in the Service Plan/Individual Program Plan (IPP). It is important this person has a good working relationship with other managers, families, and individuals served. This position is a member of the Executive Team. This is a salaried position.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of Profiles
- Performs personnel functions (e.g. hiring, supervising, counseling, disciplining, directing, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining of all Profiles employees including direct support staff, instructors, productions staff, day service support managers, and office manager.
- Program Development which includes responsibility for assuring daily class activities are planned and implemented and meeting the individual's needs.
- Supervises the management of Profiles and insures that it operates within all safety, regulatory, fiscal and agency standards.
- Assisting instructors with developing lesson plans that will be used in the classes and monitoring those lesson plans by spending time in the classes each week.
- Works with direct support staff on teaching techniques and strategies to use in classes.
- Working with volunteers/professionals in the community to incorporate speakers on special topics into the program development at Profiles.
- Developing monthly calendar of activities by the end of the previous month.
- Demonstrating effective instruction techniques and positive reinforcement.
- Participating as a member of the admissions team.
- Coordinating staff schedules.
- Supervises Assistant Day Service Director to assure compliance with DOL regulations regarding time studies.
- Works with the team on referrals and provides tours of facilities
- Establishes time schedule for maximum use of the facility to see that adult development services are provided in a cost efficient manner for the benefit of Profiles and the service recipient.
- Supervise Transportation Department
- Supervise the transportation coordinator
- Assists with finding staff for transportation department
- Oversees the completion of required paperwork for the operation of vehicles
- Assists with the bidding process, as needed
- Assists with transportation grants as needed
- Additional Job Duties
- Assist in the development of periodic management reports.
- Performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Meets with the board of directors as requested.
- Provides assistance as needed to other directors and managers of ILS/CL establishing teamwork and open communications
- Develops and implements strategic planning for long term needs.
- Participates in all staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding ILS and the confidentiality shall be in compliance with ILS non-disclosure policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The formal education equivalent of a Bachelor's degree from a College or University in a related field or have a minimum of 5 years' experience in supervision, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.; a minimum of one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity; have knowledge of general office skills and equipment i.e. typing, computer, filing, copy & fax machine, etc.; the ability to lift at a minimum of 20 pounds; knowledge of the field of Human Services/Developmental Disabilities must maintain a current CPR and First Aid Certification, and complete annual training. They must have the ability to operate a vehicle and possess a valid AR driver's license in good standing and proof of vehicle liability insurance. ability to observe and record behavioral data, ability to communicate clearly with staff and consumers through use of telephone and other verbal means, possess good listening skills, ability to evaluate and determine consumer's strengths and needs.
