Course: Advanced Motion Design 3
This course focuses on the creation of a semester-long project that reflects an industry production schedule. Students will research and develop a primarily 2D graphic design-based motion graphic. Students cumulative knowledge will be used to create a well-rounded portfolio piece for entry-level graphic design jobs that utilize motion. Students will also revisit their demo reel and make any necessary changes. Technology requirement: Students provide their own laptop, a graphics tablet, external hard drive.

- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies
- Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends
- Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum: Bachelors degree in animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, graphic design, advertising, or an equivalent degree in the visual arts.
- Preferred: Masters degree AND
- 3 or more years experience in the design industry.
- Skills in the following are required: 12 Principles of Animation, understanding of graphic design and how it relates to motion graphics, motion graphics trends, motion production pipeline, strong ability to give pointed feedback, understanding of typography and its use in motion, manipulation and editing of sound files, story arc, color theory, how to understand requirements of a creative brief for motion graphics, understanding of personal brand development, and understanding of industry expectations for motion graphics portfolios. Ability to mentor students in the development and production of capstone-level projects.
- Skills teaching the following software programs are required: Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition and Adobe mobile apps
