The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Highly Qualified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to assist in establishing and leading the expansion of a Nursery practice in collaboration with MUSC Health in the Midlands. The qualified Nurse Practitioner will administer emergency services and develop a plan of care for each infant while collaborating with MUSC physicians in Charleston via Telehealth technology.
About this position:
- 7 on/7 off, 24-hour shifts
- On-site hours 8am-5pm
- On call within 30-minute range after 5pm
- Additional pay for in-house call in
We are looking for skilled, knowledgeable Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to help grow this technology-driven practice consisting of both level 1 and well-baby nursery.
- Candidates must be confident, and have the experience and knowledge to make decisions about patient care while relaying key information to collaborating physicians located off-site.
- Must be comfortable with resuscitation, peripheral IVs, heart sticks, managing ventilators, administering pulmonary surfactant, umbilical lines, catheters, and other well baby related procedures.
- Strong leadership skills are required, and candidates must be willing to guide and develop nursing support to achieve optimal patient care.
- The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner position will be block scheduled, 7 days on, 7 days off with an 8am-5pm shift, in-house services, and overnight call (from home) or 30-minute response time.
Additional Job Description
Required Minimum Training and Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant. Must have at least 5 years’ experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with experience in the Neonatal ICU.
Degree of Supervision: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as an NNP with the SC Board of Nursing, or as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. Requires certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). If BLS is not current, provider must enroll and have received certificate by start date. Requires certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). If NRP is not current, provider must enroll and have received certificate by start date. DHEC and DEA license applications must be submitted prior to first day.
