Job Description
At HII we build and maintain U.S. Navy readiness every day. Mission Technologies, a division of HII is currently seeking a seeking an Engineering Technician 3 to join our Newport News Shipyard Direct Support Group. This position will be located in Newport News, VA. The selected candidate will have the ability to collaborate across various entities with our engineering and trades to support Newport News Shipyard. The selected candidate will provide task support on the E24 Waterfront Engineering team with shipboard integration, troubleshooting, testing, and in-service repair of the CVN 78 Class Advanced Weapons Elevators with specific emphasis on the CVN-79 project.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
- AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Experience working on advanced weapons.
Preferred Requirements
- The preferred candidate should have previous onboard aircraft carrier experience.
- Experience working on Advanced Weapons Elevators is desired.
- Experience with interpreting electrical schematics and software ladder logic is preferred.
