Job Overview:
The Advisor Consultant Internship is a nine-week summer experience that will start in June 2025. During the program, participants will gain insight into a career in financial sales, marketing and client service at one of the world’s fastest growing asset managers while having the opportunity to engage directly with senior leadership. Interns will develop deeper understanding of investment markets, investment products, client relationship management, and consultative sales. In addition to working closely with our leadership team to support our ability to serve our clients, interns will undergo a comprehensive and industry-leading training program. Additionally, they will gain experience with other areas of our firm including opportunities to work on numerous projects with multiple departments. Throughout the nine weeks, interns will have abundant opportunities to engage with leadership and build relationships around the firm, beginning with their mentors who will serve as guides from day one. As an Advisor Consultant Intern, you’ll receive actionable feedback weekly and a performance review at the end of the program; the program may lead to the opportunity for a full-time offer.
The Advisor Consultant role serves as the primary development pipeline for many of Lord Abbett’s Client Service roles including Regional Managers (RM) across the West, Midwest, South, Southeast, and Northeast regions. Upon promotion, Regional Managers transition into the region they’ll oversee allowing them to enrich existing relationships, identify cross-selling opportunities and originate new producers.
We’ll trust you to::
- Develop a basic understanding of financial markets, and exhibit curiosity and passion for continuous learning
- Develop a basic knowledge of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and retirement products
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of— and be able to present— top selling Lord Abbett investment vehicles
- Explain current market conditions and the potential impact on our investment products
- Partner with the Leadership Team to assist with projects pertaining to U.S. Retail Initiatives
- Assist Advisor Consultants and Regional Managers with marketing materials for financial advisors
- Take notes on webinars, team meetings, and industry related events for Advisor Consultants
- Shadow successful Advisor Consultants and deliver key takeaways to the Leadership Team
- Think proactively and execute on ideas that can add value to the team
- Work closely with the senior sales specialists to complete tasks such as, but not limited to:
- Following up on prospective client meetings, using email and other digital tools
- Using financial software to create Illustrations of our fund performance
- Demonstrating creative thinking and analytical skills to analyze and articulate our product advantages vs. key competitors
- Creating and sending marketing material via email
- Ambition to pursue a client-facing career in financial services, with a strong interest in relationship management and sales
- Graduating between December 2025 – May 2026
- Eligibility for full-time employment in Summer 2026
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- The aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $95,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
