POSITION SUMMARY

A successful Aerial Construction Lineman shall access specific areas to install, maintain, and/or repair a customer's telecommunications equipment. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction; familiarity with aerial lift devices, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools; ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Ensures adherence to and demonstrates a sound understanding of safety best practices and regulations
• Able to build aerial plant to include running/lashing/over lashing strand, coax, and fiber cables in new and rebuild construction.
• Able to climb poles as needed
• Able to complete pole transfers
• Qualified to operate a bucket truck.
• Capable of utilizing associated tools for the above described work.

• Qualified to follow safe work practices with a strong understanding of OSHA/DOT standards for construction.
• Able to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods of time
• Able to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Able to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing
• Able to operate equipment, including, but not limited to an aerial lift device, lasher, and hand tools, and understanding the functioning thereof
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 21 or older
• Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
• Two plus years as an aerial lineman in a capacity similar to current requirements
• Fiber construction background (aerial, splicing, underground, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
• High School Diploma or GED

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
• Undergraduate degree
• Lineman Training (TVPPA)
• Able to splice coax
