Overview
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Utah State University (Logan campus) seeks applicants for a full-time academic year (funded for 9 months) Professional Practice Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position. Applicants with the appropriate credentials will be considered at the rank of professional practice associate or full professor. The position is open until filled, with an anticipated start date of January 2024. The primary responsibilities are developing and teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in aerospace engineering. Duties include in-person and online instruction and curriculum development in the undergraduate- and graduate-level aerospace engineering courses or other relevant courses as assigned by the department head. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a closely related field, and a broad range of knowledge in mechanical and aerospace engineering topics.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Duties include in-person and online instruction and curriculum development in the undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in aerospace engineering, or other relevant courses as assigned by theĀ department head. 90%
* Actively participating in assigned committees, including curriculum and accreditation assignments. 5%
* Other duties as assigned by the department head. 5%
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline relevant to the department.
* Effective teaching or mentoring experience.
* Effective written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated strong organizational skills
To be considered at the professional practice associate or professional practice professor ranks, candidates must also meet these qualifications:
* At least 5 years of professional experiences after receiving the PhD degree.
* Evidence of success in effective teaching or mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to candidates who have:
* Additional industrial, academic, or research lab experience in aerospace engineering.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching or mentoring experience.
