About the Job
We are seeking a hands-on Aerospace Test Engineer to join our Mechanical Test Lab. This role focuses on the mechanical evaluation of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts and assemblies, and production parts and assemblies. The successful candidate will support internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical evaluations of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts, and assemblies.
- Verify and evaluate requested tasks with the test requester and schedule them, resolving competing and conflicting needs.
- Develop new testing methods and standard processes as necessary.
- Report and review test results with the supervisor or manager and communicate findings to the customer.
- Coordinate and team with other groups as required.
Basic/Mandatory Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Demonstrated proficiency with the calibration and safe operation of universal mechanical testing equipment.
- Proficiency in the analysis of mechanical test data.
- Working knowledge of ASTM specifications for mechanical testing of materials, including tensile, shear, torsion, and compression testing.
- Ability to develop and document new standard laboratory processes.
- Capable of scheduling, de-conflicting, coordinating, and executing multiple technical activities concurrently.
- Proficiency in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, basic data transfer, and project documentation.
- Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of a BS in Engineering or related Sciences with 2 years of experience, or an MS in the same, with demonstrated interest and experience in hands-on mechanical testing and evaluation of hardware.
