Role overview
The VP of Operations is a highly visible position reporting to the President and is a key business leader responsible for manufacturing production and support teams at Hytek Finishes. The role manages the functions of Production, Facilities & Chemical Maintenance, Procurement, and Safety. Achieves the highest level of safety, quality, and timely completion of all manufacturing processes. Exhibits a drive for results and the strong business acumen required to accomplish a wide variety of responsibilities. The position is a part of the Senior Leadership team and supports senior leadership in all functions required to lead the business.

Your responsibilities & challenges
- Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead all operational and capital resources in Production, Facilities Maintenance, Chemical Maintenance, Procurement, and Safety teams ensuring cohesiveness and effectiveness in meeting company objectives and annual plans.
- Effective member of Sr. Leadership team owning Productivity targets.
- Partner with VP Finance, VP Sales, and President to lead the business like an owner by lending new business perspective to strategic initiatives.
- Responsible for communicating with labor representative(s) and shop stewards to maintain a positive working relationship between the Company and the Union. Works with Human Resources to achieve satisfactory resolution of grievances and other related issues. Participates in contract negotiations.
- Actively participates in customer relations and plays an integral role in meeting the changing needs of Company partners.
- Supports sales efforts working closely with our sales and new product integration teams and demonstrates excellent business development skills.
- Promotes Quality Assurance’s efforts by ensuring timely reporting of operational issues affecting the Quality System as well as ensuring root cause and corrective actions are effective and on time.
- Responsible for staff development, training, evaluation, coaching, and succession planning. Create a workplace that fosters teamwork and strengthens communication. Manages and develops Sr. Managers, including the development of position descriptions, key objective work plans, compensation planning, and annual performance discussions.
- Lead contributor for monthly President’s Letters, quarterly BUM (Business Unit Management) reports, mid-year Reviews, and Annual Plan presentations to TDG business leaders.
- Participate or lead special projects as required.
- Ability to travel.

Your qualifications
- BA/BS degree in related field of study or equivalent experience. Master’s degree a plus.
- Requisite experience with increasing responsibilities.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, finishing environment preferred.
- Experience managing people, projects, and tasks ensuring appropriate responsiveness and priority. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop other people leaders.
- Experience managing in a unionized environment is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor Syteline a plus).
- Six Sigma or Lean Certification a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to drive change, improve controls, and influence decisions through process improvement, operational targets, financial analysis, and metrics.
- Excellent organizational, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
