Pay Range: $89,000 - $126,000
Job Summary: The Aesthetic Design Specialist will manage the development and implementation of design concepts, product designs, and textile innovations to deliver winning, consumer-preferred, and industry leading products. The role will serve as a critical bridge between Product Development and Brand Marketing, translating brand designs into consumer-preferred, industry leading products.
This role is within the Product Merchandising group, reporting to the Director of Product Merchandising. This individual will collaborate closely with marketing, sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:
* Collaborate with marketing and outside design firms to provide design input and research into concept development. Facilitate design iteration and prototyping via simulations and/or renderings, physical samples, and product presentations.
* Foster and manage collaborative relationships with textile suppliers: Engage in regular communication, coordinate joint projects, and ensure mutual timeline and performance goals are met to maintain a strong relationship.
* Lead the execution of multifaceted design projects, translating design concepts into marketable products that meet brand, business, and financial goals.
* Provide deep textile expertise to project teams to creatively bring product designs to life.
* Leverage design research to design and develop products which best meet consumer needs and deliver on the sleep solution they are seeking.
* Balance consumer design with functional requirements so that aesthetic goals, optimal usability, manufacturability, and cost objectives are met.
* Create diverse, thought-provoking ideas, to inspire and stimulate meaningful products.
* Work very closely with the Project Management teams to ensure projects meet on cost, on quality, on time requirements.
* Establish, champion, and deliver craftsmanship and construction requirements and work closely with the quality control group.
* Deeply understand Tempur Sealy’s core materials and processes and manufacturing capabilities, the competitive landscape and outside-of-industry product design best practices.
* Establish and maintain an industry leading textile library and keep the company apprised of emerging textile trends and technologies.
* Participate in accomplishing the day-to-day activities of the Product Merchandising function.
* Work cross functionally to create and present fabric briefs to suppliers.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in engineering, textiles or design related field.
* Experience in textiles and/or other related field (preferably in bedding).
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be capable of performing each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements herein are the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Training/Equipment:
* Experience using engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA, and DFMA to validate design content
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Fast-paced corporate office environment. Some stress may occur. Regular travel is not expected in this position; however, travel around scheduled projects such as program rollouts will be necessary.
