We are currently in search of a skilled farm equipment mechanic who thrives in both independent and team settings. This position involves traveling to diverse client sites to perform on-the-spot repairs in the field and retrieving equipment for necessary repairs. If you enjoy job flexibility and the opportunity to travel throughout your workday, this could be the perfect fit for you. We are looking for candidates willing to be on call after hours two to five times per month, possessing a solid understanding of various farm equipment used in different operations. Job Responsibilities:
- Travel to client sites to conduct field repairs on farm equipment using the appropriate tools and equipment.
- Coordinate the transportation of extensively damaged equipment to the nearest facility for assignment to a specialized repair team.
- Maintain detailed records of shop supplies, tools used, and labor hours for both personal work and the team.
- Supervise a team of three to four technicians, overseeing repairs on dairy equipment, irrigation systems, and other machinery requiring collaborative efforts.
- Provide 24-hour coverage for service calls during on-call duty periods, ensuring timely response to client needs.
- Offer daytime support to on-call mechanics handling repair jobs that require additional assistance.
- Participate in location-based repair teams, servicing equipment brought in by on-call farm equipment mechanics at client work sites.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
- Small engine repair certification
- Diesel engine repair certification
- Hydraulic systems repair certification
- Commercial driver’s license – Class C
Preferred:
- Two or more years of experience in farm equipment repair
- Associate’s degree in a field related to agriculture
