Responsibilities:AI ACCELERATOR - POWER ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an engineer passionate about driving the best Power Performance Area (PPA) of AMD’s AI Accelerators for client, server, and adaptable silicon devices. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in driving power optimization to deliver industry leading performance/area and performance/power. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work on latest and rapidly evolving high-performance, low-power processor and accelerator IP for AI/ML applications.
This role will require understanding of Power, tools & methodologies.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/time zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and firmware engineers to understand the impact of new features on perf & power
- Analyze design metrics and make implementation choices to optimize PPA
- Build power models for sub-blocks & end user applications for estimation & projection
- Build Power test plan documentation covering all critical design features
- Power analysis/optimization/modeling
- Perf/watt optimization efforts for existing & newer architectures
- Si-correlation of Power data
- May involve performing competitive analysis
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of industry standard Power tools & methodologies
- Scripting language experience: Python, perl, shell preferred.
- Basic knowledge of ML/AI use cases
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and present complex technical information
- Adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and architects with strong interpersonal skills to work across teams in different geographies
- Exposure to leadership or mentorship is an asset
- Desirable assets with prior exposure to compute engines & AI/ML workloads.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
